Ananya & Riley
Not far from bustling downtown Seattle, our night of love unfolded in Kent. The theme: Desert Rose, velvet reds and royal golds draped across the tables, with jewels worn proudly by women and men alike.
This was our very first Sangeet.
(noun: sun-GEET): a lively pre-wedding celebration in North Indian traditions. The word means “sung together” in Sanskrit, but that definition barely scratches the surface. A Sangeet is a full-on party: music, dancing, family bonding, and joy spilling over at every corner.
The night was dazzling. The choreographed dances by multiple groups were mesmerizing, the décor was rich and radiant, and yet nothing compared to the love between the bride and groom.
The bride, a friend from my high school days, entrusted us with something special. Ananya designed the menus and drinks, and we had the honor of bringing them to life. She chose a passionfruit mango margarita with a chamoy + tajín rim (WOWZA). Riley opted for a honey and rose mint julep; one for the recipe book, it quickly became a personal favorite.
Scotch flowed, plates of soft naan and paneer warmed our bellies, and by the time last call rolled around, we didn’t just feel like bartenders, we felt like part of the celebration.
Another Girlypop success for the books. <3
